The company is run by Tim Fish and specialises in concept design, production and rental primarily in the corporate sector. Tim has been in the industry since he was 13, starting out as a DJ, and the company was founded in 1991 in Cape Town.
The purchase of the latest Robe’s follows hot on the heels of Multi-Media’s first Robe investment - in Robe 12 ROBIN 300 LEDWashes - two months earlier.
Keen to be able to offer clients the latest technologies, they wanted high output fixtures representing good value for money, and decided to go with Robe after serious consideration and many comparisons.
They liked the size and punch of the LEDWash 600s explains Tim, “We save on power at the event and space in the truck”. He thinks the 600 Spots are “Very fast and bright compared to competitor products”. The MMXs were purchased for their effects and potential as creative design tools.
The Robes were all supplied by South African distributor DWR. “We are extremely happy with our decision,” declares Tim.
He adds that the lower power consumption and generally more sustainable ROBIN series will fit perfectly into the increasing trend for events trying to be greener and more eco-friendly. Their local event association has established a ‘Green Forum’ and he reckons that most rental companies are gradually moving towards more carbon-conscious solutions and choices in the provision of lighting and visuals.
Multi-Media’s Robes have already been in action on a number of shows including the Engen Retail Indaba at Sun City Superbowl (LD’s Kurt du Preez and Robert Grobler) and the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year SA Growth forum in the Westin Hotel Cape Town where Tim was LD. Upcomings include an event for retail giant Pick ‘n’ Pay in Zambia.
